Identity in Jesus Christ.

Daniel 1:3-4 “Then the king commanded Ashpenaz, his chief eunuch, to bring some of the people of Israel, both of the royal family and of the nobility, youths without blemish, of good appearance and skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding learning, and competent to stand in the king’s palace, and to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.” Brethren, because of Hezekiah’s distrust in God’s provision (2 Kings 20/Isaiah 39), God committed some of Judah to be exiled, or taken captive. The vessels of God’s house were also taken by King Nebuchadnezzar and placed in the house of his false god in the land of Shinar. Nebuchadnezzar attempted to assimilate 4 Hebrew youths into the Chaldean (Babylon) culture so that theirs forget their own culture. These were, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. By God’s grace and sovereignty, these men of Judah held into their identity in the LORD, and sought to remain faithful throughout their captivity, and would not forget who their God is. If you look in our country today, the identity of Christ is being forgotten in church’s. The country is trying to silence the church where it can, but I’m sure that God is maintaining those of us who will not forget our identity in Jesus Christ and will desire to keep His commandments and glorify His name through the preaching of His glorious gospel. Don’t forget your identity in Jesus Christ. Nothing else matters or can replace such foundational importance. God bless you.
