Valley of dry bones.

Ezekiel 37:3-5 “And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.” Brethren, after reading Ezekiel 37, I immediately remembered Paul Washer’s sermon on this passage where God knit the bones of these fallen Israelites together, then placed the muscle fibers and muscles upon the bones, and skin to cover them, and then finally breath to breathe into these once dead men so that they could live as a nation for God. As Paul Washer said, “I have just explained the regeneration of men by the gospel.” You see, we were all dead in our trespasses and sin. Salvation is not a choice made by us who have been killed by our sin, but is a call from God upon those whom He fore knew. Such a powerful image it is to consider Ezekiel in the midst of this valley of dry bones, and how God brings to life men who have been claimed by death. Likewise, we who were once slaves to sin, and overcome by death, have now been freed by Jesus Christ, and have eternal life in He that died and rose for the glory of the Father and for our regeneration, justification, and eventual glorification. Glory to God for His unattainable wisdom and power!
