Bloodshed

Ezekiel 35:6 “therefore, as I live, declares the Lord God, I will prepare you for blood, and blood shall pursue you; because you did not hate bloodshed, therefore blood shall pursue you.” Brethren, Ezekiel 35 is a prophecy of condemnation against Edom, also referred to as Mount Seir (Mount Seir was like Israel’s Mount Zion). Edom is condemned because while they sought territorial exploitation and blood-shed from Israel, there taunting was so grievous that God took it personal. Rightfully so, amen? Israel is God’s people after all, and for a gentile nation to seek so intently the destruction of Israel, The Covenant Keeper Himself would only respond with such a reaction. My point today is we see the country of Israel being bombarded almost every day. That doesn’t mean that God has forsaken His people, the people of the olive shoot, while we Gentiles have been grafted in. His timing is Sovereign, and will coincide with His scriptures. The bloodshed that is spilt will be atoned for by The Avenger, Jesus Christ. Our job is not to avenge, but to pray. Even in our Christian walk, we respond to our enemies like one who bears his cross. With love until the end. As Stephen felt te blows of stones on his head, he took a quote from The Savior’s lines, “Forgive them, they know not what they do.” We must respond the same, because we see how God responds to bloodshed here. If you take the sword, you will perish by it (Matt. 26:52). Live as Christ lived and let Him avenge the blood of His people. Pray also today for Israel, as well as our Christian brethren who are dying for the gospel today. God bless you!
