New Spirit & new hearts

Ezekiel 11:19-20 “And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in my statutes and keep my rules and obey them. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.” Glory to God! We see one of the greatest promises of this book mentioned here. God reveals His future plan of a new covenant for the Jewish remnant. God’s people would come to have one heart (Leb: one mind, will, heart, understanding), as God in His Triune nature is of one heart with Himself. The “new” Spirit is the same Spirit, but given in a new more lasting way, in that the sanctuary would not be built with hands, but would instead be indwelt in the human heart. The true sanctuary is intimacy with God Himself, and not separation made from the 2 stones tablets of His law. God would give the Jews hearts of flesh where they have right thinking of His law to be kept not as a means of salvation, but as a means of intimacy with God Himself. God has truly fulfilled this covenant through Jesus Christ and the promise of the Holy Spirit, but the Jewish remnant has yet to fully come back into the fold. Pray that they’d have hearts of flesh by God to receive the gospel today. God bless you.
