Ezekiel 8:12 “Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in his room of pictures? For they say, ‘The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’” Brethren, it’s important to know (in every sense of the word) who God is. God is Spirit and has no form to be held by. He has no image where we can identify Him (Acts 17:24-25), because to do so would cause sinful men to succumb to idolatry. Yet these elders of Israel would rather worship what man concocts in their minds (idolatry) instead of The Only God who created all things. Just because God is not seen in our understanding in the physical sense, does not mean that He is not real. Our fallen and finite minds equate reality with something visible, but The infinite and perfect God needs not reveal Himself to finite and imperfect beings like us. He is above us and instead of demanding a sign of God’s existence, we should stop asking such obvious questions (Rom. 1:20) and should instead repent from our sinful nature and seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Bring your hearts into subjection of who God is, and be humbled by His power and grace. The Israelites fell to idolatry of Babylonian gods-even worshipping them in God’s temple. Let that be far from the practice of any Christian. Christians are not idol-worshippers. We worship The One True Living God of scripture who has redeemed us by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ! God bless you.
