Jeremiah 42:21-22 “And I have this day declared it to you, but you have not obeyed the voice of the Lord your God in anything that he sent me to tell you. Now therefore know for a certainty that you shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence in the place where you desire to go to live.” Amen, brethren, at this point, the remnant of Judah who remained in the city of Judah after Babylonian control were afraid to remain there because of the murder of Gedaliah, Nebuchadnezzar’s Jewish authority over Judah. Thus, Johanan and the rest of the Jewish remnant sought to flee to Egypt as to not be killed while they were innocent. This, however would go against God’s word given through Jeremiah, which was to not fear the king of Babylon, but rather remain in Judah. Regardless, the people did not accept God’s word and sought to flee to Egypt out of fear of King Nebuchadnezzar. God’s will is not going to look sure and acceptable to us all the time. We are not going to have warm fuzzies and peace in our hearts about some things with God. Sometimes your faith and knowledge in God Himself is enough, and frankly all that He asks. God bless you.
