Burn God’s Word or burning for God’s Word?

Jeremiah 36:23-24 “As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a knife and throw them into the fire in the fire pot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the fire pot. Yet neither the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words was afraid, nor did they tear their garments.” Brethren, Jeremiah was told by God to write on a scroll all of the words of God since the days of King Josiah until Jeremiah’s present, which was 22 years of God’s Word. That’s a pretty thick book concerning the Word of God. Unfortunately, the present king of Judah, King Jehoiakim shows no regard for God’s Word and instead burns it with fire. There was no fear of God’s impending judgement through the use of Babylon in the King or his officials. History certainly repeats itself, amen? Nowadays, God’s Word is not revered, even in many churches. As the world looks at the American church and it’s increasing compromise of theological standards for the sake of people’s feelings, God’s Word is forgotten and mishandled. Pray today for God’s Word to be respected and treated with holy fear and awe-and that attitude starts with you. Do you comprehend that you have God’s very words in your possession? Are you amazed by that? Do you read it as such? If you don’t I pray that God breaks you to that wonderful and fearful news. It’s truly a grace that we don’t deserve. God bless you!
