Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” I appreciate the deeper meaning of this verse found at the base of our text because it enriches our understanding of this scripture. “Mercy” can also be understood as “steadfast love” and “dwell” means “shall return to dwell”, which helps me see the mindset of King David. He was always heart-set on the kingdom. David knew that God’s steadfast love would follow him and that his true dwelling place wasn’t on earth but in the presence of God. When we are faced with temptation or trials, it’s for our tearing down and for the building up of the Holy Spirit given to us by Jesus Christ. The less of our natural sinful nature, the more God leads us in His path of righteousness. Today, follow God’s path of righteousness and dwell on His house instead of this earthly one. God bless you.
