Matthew 27:9 “Then was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, saying, ‘And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel, and they have them the potter’s field, as The Lord directed me.” Brethren, this prophecy is found in Zechariah 11. It speaks on the bad shepherds and how they herd the sheep for their spoil. It speaks on how God annuls His union between the sons of Israel and Judah. Whose line is Judah? Yeshua. The sons of Israel were the Pharisees that separated themselves from the new covenant of The Lord. Though they acted from their own hearts in Jesus’ time, they fulfilled scripture. During this fulfilling prophecy, Judas Iscariot becomes an atheist, not caring about the result of his actions when he died, and hung himself on a tree. Thus the Pharisees wanted to be clean from such a death, so they used the 30 pieces of silver to buy a potters field (a burial place for strangers). There are some who are willing to not live for God as a means of there own profit in this world. But if you become a stranger to God and a lover of the world, God will acknowledge your decision before the throne on judgement day by saying “Depart from me, you worker of lawlessness, for I never knew you.” I pray we learn the lesson of judas and love The Lord instead of our worldly estates. God bless you!
