Traditions of men V. Commandments of God

Matthew 15:1-3 “Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?” Amen, is it not true, even ’til this day, that religious traditions take the place of Biblical commands and principles? Men have so longed to control their faith. They desire to leave be a code that will make them feel righteous and holy. But how can that which the bible calls “not good” ever be holy on its own. Men are inherently evil. Evil, not to your standard because everyone would say that they’re good, but rather to God’s standard. Jesus didn’t desire to honor traditions of men but of His Father, the LORD. Traditions such as Islam’s ceremonial washing to be made clean, Roman Catholic’s holding of their doctrine to be higher than that of the Bible, Jehovah Witness’ knocking on doors to earn salvation, which myriad a few of the traditions conjured up by men. It is not by works that we are saved but by accepting by faith the work of mercy and grace displayed on the cross. After that point, out of our gratitude and love for the Savior, do we follow Him-NOT because we are trying to “earn” Heaven! Eternity means eternity worshipping the LORD of Hosts, Alpha & Omega for all time. Not an eternal vacation to our own devices. God bless you.
